Mexico City’s mayor Marcelo Ebrard is actually the chair of the World Mayor’s Council on Climate Change and a week before the United Nations will be hosting COP-16 in Cancun, Mexico City is hosting mayors from around the world for The World Mayor’s Summit on Climate Change (WMSC) on November 21. The event hopes to effectively combine local-level advocacy with international cooperation and awareness.

Martha Delgado, Mexico City’s Secretary of Environment, is also central to the city’s green efforts and is at the forefront of Mexico City’s Green Plan (Plan Verde). I had a chance to sit down with Martha and find out more about WMSC as well as about Mexico City’s achievements in the fight against climate change.
